First restaurant to open that specialize in Thai boat noodles, this has definitely been the must anticipated restaurant of the year 2016.  Opened by the former chef of ChaChaWan, Adam Cliff, Samsen is tucked away in Stone Nulleh lane in Wan Chai.

Verdict

Wagyu Beef Boat Noodles – 8/10
Pork Boat Noodles – 8/10
Chopped Pork Salad with Fresh Thai Herbs – 8/10

Upon my third visit to Samsen, I notice the queue is much shorter and they have finally started writing down the names and contact number so you do not need to stand in the queue anymore.  That was much more convenient as you can hop off for a drink instead of standing in the heat.  Boat noodles is a must here, it is the same price as Thailand, however it is in a different currency, so be prepared to pay 10 times more than in Thailand. Chose the beef and pork boat noodles again, the soup taste slightly different than the first two times I visited.  The broth was more watered down and was least flavoursome.  However you MUST add some of their chill flakes and chill sauce which is complimentary on every table.  I prefer the pork boat noodles as the taste of the wagyu beef itself is too dominant, however bothe the pork and beef balls are just like the ones in Thailand which are smaller than the ones in HK.  Both the noodles came with pieces of meat and meat balls, the noodles are the glass noodles you can find in Thailand.  Overall the boat noodles here  are as authentic as you can get in Hong Kong.
The salad was extremely spicy yet so delicious with different types of Thai herbs.  You will need to wrap the lettuce with the spicy minced pork fillings.
I do recommend Samsen if you are looking for some Thai noodles, although the price of the boat noodles extravagant compared to the price in Thailand, but there are no other place in HK that could do a better boat noodles than here.  Be sure to queue up though.

Would I go back again? Yes, I have already
