We ordered two different starters to start us off.  I loved the Pork belly chicharrónes. They were extremely crispy and addictive. It was ashame that it came ins uch small portion, eating with two fully grown men isn’t fair when it comes to sharing.  Strangely enough, it is my first time eating Padrón peppers, they were tasty yet healthier than the fatty pork belly. Great start for the night though.

SEA

Sea bass ceviche

I have not yet had a bad ceviche yet at anywhere, so this wasn’t a surprise for being yet another good ceviche.  I love their sea bass ceviche. The sea bass was cut into little bite size pieces, mixed with radish and the infamous tiger’s milk.   If you have never had Peruvian food before, don’t be frighten, it isn’t actually milk from tigers.  Tiger milk is a citrus based marinade used commonly in Peruvian cuisine, usually with lime juice, onions etc .  I am not a huge fish lover, but I do love ceviche.

Both from the ‘LAND’ section, I would prefer the Beef short rib. It was slightly more expensive at 21 gbp, however the portion was bigger and came with the side, sweet potato.  The rib was very tender and moist.  Lots of sauce. making it extra juicy and the sweet potato was very soft, the two blended in so well together. i highly recommend this dish.  The lamb wasn’t bad, it was just as delicious, however compared to the rib, the meat wasn’t as juicy.

being the only vegetable dish we ordered, we literally had to fight over this.  There was only  three asparagus in this dish and it simply wasn’t enough.  In my opinion, anything with a runny yolk will taste good.  This isn’t my favourite dish as it is too easy to make and not so ‘Peruvian’

SWEET

Coconut & brown butter ‘Leche frita’- 10/10

We were recommended to try this dessert after being indecisive.  The lovely guy said this dessert is just like ‘firework’so we were looking forward in seeing how this explodes in us.
It did not disappoint.  The Leche frita was heavenly, (it really did explode in me, haha) It was slight fried, with lots of coconut which was extremely good.  I cannot describe how delicious this was, no words can describe. The dessert was definitely another highlight of the meal.

Verdict

There were some hits n miss in Pachamama. Overall, I was slightly disappointed in Pachamama, not that the food wasn’t good.  I had high expectations for Pachamama, as I have been wanting to go for over 6 months.  The rib was to kill for, and I wouldn’t mind eating ten more plates of the Pork belly chicharrónes, but their food isn’t as innovative as I had expected, and nothing really surprised me.  I have been to Lima, and you can tell there are more thoughts into their dishes.  I still like Pachamama, high standard of food, great host who was very helpful, and I love the laid back and cozy setting.  I will return for their brunch!
