My flight information
Hong Kong Express UO 3648
Hong Kong HKG -07:45 AM
Ishigaki ISG -10:45 AM
Like always I grabbed cheap tickets on HK Express’s sale, my ticket was only 600 hkd including tax. This is my third time going to Ishigaki and the only reason why I chose Okinawa again was because we were travelling in winter and wanted somewhere warm. The flight time offered by HK Express surely isn’t great, the morning flight was very tiring, however if you are on a budget and rather use the money to eat, then HK Express is the way to go. As a budget airline, there is no food or drinks offered on the flight nor entertainment.
Arriving at Ishigaki International airport on time and the weather was great. Ishigaki International airport is very small, there are only two international flights flying in and out of the airport. In comparison, the Domestic airport is bigger and with more domestic flights flying in and out of Ishigaki. If you need to do some souvenir shopping or grabbing some food before your flight then you will need to be at the domestic airport as there is absolutely nothing over at the International airport. There is a Starbucks in the domestic terminal for coffee drinkers like me.
As I was coming to Okinawa for 8 days in total, the first part of the trip would be mainly at another big island which I have not visited before called Miyako-jima (Miyako Island). To get there I would need to take another flight from Ishigaki to Miyako-jima. There was a few hours to spare so I decided to grab lunch at Ishigaki before my flight. I took the airport shuttle to Ishigaki port and walked over. There is two shuttle buses from and to the airport and port, one is the express bus that does not stop and the other bus that stops at every bus stops on the way. They both cost 500 jpy which is a bargain!
We then walked 5 minutes to the restaurant I chosen for lunch. I couldn’t wait to have some Wagyu, and it’s Ishigaki beef!
Monday – Sunday
11am – 6pm
After lunch, we walked back to the port to catch the bus to the domestic airport to catch the flight.
Flight Number: RAC834
Departure: Ishigaki – 14:50
Arrival: Miyako – 15:20
There were only two airlines flying to Miyako- jima from Ishigaki and I chose the cheapest one I could find. It was not cheap, the flight was more expensive than my flight from HK. However, the service was immaculate, flight was on time and really clean airplane.
Landed safely at Miyako-jima and after picking up our luggage, we found the OTS representative who was waiting outside the arrival hall. He wasn’t too cheerful or welcoming. We arrived at the car rental shop to get the car we have reserved. Despite the rudeness from the representative, the lady who served us spoken fluent English, she was very friendly and helpful. She gave us many food and sightseeing recommendations.
We then drove from the airport to the hotel to check in. It wasn’t a long drive, however as Miyako-jima is a sleepy town, people drove very slow. It took us more time than expected.
Wellness Villa BRISA
As it was too late for sightseeing and too early for dinner, we decided to nip for a drink. Holiday only starts after a drink. We drove to Shigira bar NORTH 24 for a drink with the sea view, it was a great bar, everything I could ask for in a nice bar.
