For starters i choose the Wood Pigeon Kebab, I haven’t seen pigeon on a menu for quite a long time in UK nor have I ever had many good pigeons in UK, it is a difficult meat to cook with, and i would never have come up with a kebab with pigeon.
I liked the idea and concept, however i didn’t really like the beetroot hummus.  It went really well with the pickled cabbage, however the pita bread came slightly cold.  the pigeon was beautifully cooked and tender.  It came red, but it tasted delicious.

For the main I chose the Venison steak (They are doing Venison rack at the moment and that is rare to find).  It came on a big plate and the portion was generous.  The meat was medium cooked as recommended.  The meat tasted really tender and perfectly seasoned.  The dish was perfected by the crispy onions on top which was fragrant and extremely crispy even soaked in the sauce. This dish was to die for and the portion was so big i did not finish the whole dish even if I wanted to.  If you do not like raw meat, then I wouldn’t recommend this as the meat is really pink.

Sides

Crushed Potatoes – 10/10

Crushed Potatoes

Crushed Potatoes

If you think you have had the best potatoes before, then you will need to have these. this came as an unexpected dish. The potatoes was so good I even thought about ordering a second plate.  They were buttery, crispy on the outside and extremely flavorful on the inside.  This are definitely a must.

Ambience & Interior

Table setting

Table setting

Native is a small little restaurant on two floors. The open kitchen is on the ground floor with some bar tables, then taking the spiral stairs down to the bottom level where there are more wooden tables.  Wooden tables and wooden chairs, making Native very raw and simple.  Lots of flowers everywhere as decorations.

I enjoyed Native very much.  From the moment I stepped in the restaurant, I knew I picked the right place.   It isn’t one of your mainstream restaurant, Native has its own personality, keeping everything simple but has its own characteristic.   Their food was simple yet innovative without being too complicated.  The menu was minimal yet a broad range of choices you can pick. I would love to come back to try their lunch and I heard they will be starting brunch soon, I cannot wait.
For the standard of food and the price here, this is a complete bargain. I went away feeling full and satisfied without breaking my wallet. i love it!

Would I go back again? Yes
