We ordered only two mains as it was an early dinner and time was tight as we were rushing to Jacky Cheung’s concert on Christmas Eve.  Luckily we only ordered two dishes as they came in a big portion.  My favourite was the Shish Tawouk, cubed chicken on a skewer with red onions and green peppers, with rice and toum.  The toum was definately the highlight of the dish, to me it was no normal garlic sauce, the consistency was creamy, more like a garlic butter.  The chicken was tender and juicy and went so well with the toum and the rice really balanced the creaminess out.

I had high hopes for the slow cooked lamb shoulder, since it was ‘slow cooked’ I expected it to be tender and juicy.  The lamb was too dry and hard.  However I liked the faro and pumpkin.

Verdict

Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder – 7/10
Shish Tawouk – 10/10

I have read from many blogs that Mama Malouf is the best Lebanese restaurant in Hong Kong, it really lived up to the expectation, however I am not too sure if it is the best but it is above average.  I was surprised there was only one more table apart from us on Christmas eve.  The customer service was impeccable, our waiter was kind, polite and very helpful.  He acknowledged us right from the start when we were checking out the menu, our glasses of water was refilled regularly, we were asked if our food was ok and he was always smiling.  Anyhow, apart from him, the other waitress lacked friendliness and smiles.  The dishes were great, I would love to come back again especially for brunch.  mama Malouf makes me want to try out more Middle eatern restaurants in Hong Kong.

Would I go back again? Yes
