Lab Made is the HK’s first liquid Nitrogen ice-cream labatory. having their first shop in Tai Hang (Main shop), they have opened a few more branches all over HK. Nitrogen is used to make their ice cream within 60 seconds, wheres normal commercial ice cream needs 10 mins, Nitrogen will need to be extremely cold at 196℃ for it to freeze the ice-cream. The flavours here changes every few weeks and there is only 3- 4 flavours, usually exotic and unique flavours. I have had custard mooncake flavour, with bits of mooncake in it.
Dessert after dinner
- Crispy banocolate – $44
- Greek Yogurt with honey and almonds $44
This was very disappointing, I didn’t even finish it. With taste of banana and chocolate, i expecting an explosion. However the chocolate on top was too thick and bitter. The ice-cream was too sweet, but it did have rice crispy inside, made it more enjoyable.
Greek Yogurt with honey and almonds
I like the Greek Yogurt more. The texture was creamy and smooth, and it taste exactly like Greek yogurt, it was very refreshing. I liked the almonds inside the ice cream, add more texture to each mouthful. The ice-cream was not too sweet except the honey on top. I hope they keep this on the menu.
Small takeaway shop in tai hang, you won’t miss it, there are always 20 people standing outside eagerly waiting for their ice-cream. Updated menu with new flavours by the wall, order inside and wait til your number is called. There are seats inside and outside, but minimal, You can always stand outside amd watch how they make the ice cream. The ambience is fun and colourful!
To my surprise, service was quick and attentive. Served by young people (teenagers mostly), they were very polite and you can see how hard working they are. There is always a long queue, and usually a 4-5 minutes wait for your order, even though they state it only takes them 60 second to make your ice cream. However, there is so much orders, you will need to wait. there are minimum seats inside, and only few seats outside. so standing seems to be the only choice. Order at the counter and wait till your number is called.
Flavours changes every few weeks, so make sure to check on their Facebook page for the newest flavours available.
