Humble House Taipei is located at the new bustling area, Xin Yi. With many office buildings around this area, which makes Humble House Taipei the first choice for many business travelers. Not only office buildings in this area, but many department stores nearby such as Mitsukoshi, Bellavista and Eslite the famous bookstore. Humble House Taipei is actually located on top of Breeze which is a department store too. Taipei’s top attraction, Taipei 101 is only 5 minutes away and Taipei’s nightclubs are also a few minutes away too.
Minimalist Japanese philosophy
I was greeted by three staffs as soon as my taxi stopped at the entrance. They swiftly guided me into the lift and told me the lobby for check in is on the 6th floor and they will take care of my luggage. The staffs were all very positive and professional at check in, I was amazed on how fluent their English was. Check in was smooth and efficient, the lady guided me to the elevator for my room.
The deluxe room was perfect, although my room did not have the view of Taipei 101, I had the view of Mitsukoshi and Bellavista which was just across the road from the hotel, how convenient. The kingsize bed was very comfortable with down pillows and duvet, I had almost 10 hours sleep here at Humble House. Not only because the bed was so comfortable, the room were so quiet and the curtains blocked out the 90% sunlight coming through. The room was in the perfect condition, extremely clean and tidy. There is a media hub by the desk which you can plug in your usb or hdmi, however my hdmi did not work on there. It was very sweet to find a welcome fruit platter on the desk from the hotel and 4 bottles of complimentary water. They replenished the water everyday and the coffee pods at the mini bar, I made sure i used the coffee machine everyday as it was great to enjoy a cup of hot coffee while watching the street of Xin Yi.
Bathroom was spacious and well equipped, the drawers of toiletries were refilled everyday by the splendid housekeepers. Despite the bathroom looking sleek and grand, the bathroom design was average. The bathtub was taller than most bath tubs I have been, so made it very hard to get in and out, definitely not disabled friendly. On the other hand the wash basin was very short so water was splashing out of it all the time. The highlight was the TOTO toilet, what’s not to love about them? They are super easy and convenient to use and Humble House translated the buttons to English for easy access too.
The night before I hanged out the breakfast request menu outside my door and it arrived on time as i requested. There weren’t many choices of breakfast, however the breakfast portion was bigger than I expected. The juice was freshly squeezed, bread was warm and fluffy and they even served Wilkin & Sons’ honey and jam! I finished the creamy yogurt in five second with the delicious honey. The fry up consisted of a sunnyside up, scrambled egg, bacon, hash brown and some vegetables, I do wish they served some Cumberland sausages in the fry up
Lobby and around the hotel
Restaurant and Bar – The Terrace
The Terrace is the only bar at Humble House and it is located behind the lobby. The bar is not fancy at all, just some sofas and couches at this open area. Lots of people walking in and out which i do not like, however there aren’t many choices for a nice quiet drink nearby. Cocktails were average, no surprises and the price range was quite pricey
