Pacific Place is turning into the new food heaven, with lots of new restaurants opening and pop ups.  It is the new contemporary dim sum venture by Aqua Restaurant Group.  Dim Sum Library opened only this year in Pacific Place on the first floor where the old food court used to be.

The Crispy aubergine tossed with salted fish & Chinese chives was my favorite and you’ve probably seen it on Instagram many times.  Fried skinless aubergine with a thin batter making it less oily and super light.  I couldn’t stop eating these aubergines although it gave me a nasty sore throat due to it being ‘hot air’.  If you smell it, it smells like normal fries, but it was super light and soft on the inside. My second favorite dish was the Wagyu beef puff with black pepper, the pastry was extremely puffy and crispy,  with many layers.  The beef filling was very rich and juicy, although I did not seem to taste it was wagyu beef. The Deep fried taro puff with foie gras was another of my favorite, it was ever so crispy and you can see the individual crispy bits.  The foie gras was too subtle though.  Everything else was above average and worth every dollar, however the tea was below average,  they served tea bags instead of tea.

Dim Sum Library isn’t like the other contemporary dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong, there is a bar by the entrance with also bar seats.  Not only you can eat dim sums but can enjoy a few glasses of great fusion cocktails.  Being at Dim Sum Library reminds me of a film setting, all the way back to 1920s. The lights are dim, with black and gold furnitures.

I expected Dim Sum Library to be very gimmicky, but phew, it wasn’t at all.  You won’t find custard buns with cute face on it nor will you find Hello Kitty.  All the dim sums were made with precision and with the best ingredients.  I would come back for lunch again even though there is no lunch menu.  I would definitely order the Crispy aubergine tossed with salted fish & Chinese chives  again and again, however I will choose not to order the tea again since I was better off drinking water.
