I had another 3 hours before my next flight to Miyako Island, so I decided to go into town and have lunch. The bus from airport to the town stopped near the port, so I decided to hop in Corner’s Grill since it’s only a 5 minutes walk from the port, which would be convenient for me to catch the bus back to the airport.

I arrived during lunch hours and there was another table inside the restaurant.  There are English on the menu, however lacked photos.  Two main dishes on the menu is hamburger and hamburger steak (without the bread/bun), as it was lunch hour, the a la carte becomes a meal.  The hamburger steak comes on a hot iron with the salad and bowl of rice on the side

The meat patties were made from 100% Ishigaki beef, they were extremely juicy and tender.  However I really couldn’t taste the distinct taste of Ishigaki beef in the hamburger steaks.  Tthe hamburger steak being 150g-200g, topped with a piece of cheese melted on top of the steak.  The potato wedges and  grilled onion were delicious, fresh and properly seasoned, as a bonus there were two pieces of bitter melon uncooked.  Bitter melon is vastly grown in Okinawa and it is a must eat when Okinawa, there are many dishes in Okinawa that serves bitter melon.  I personally think the bitter melon in Okinawa are less bitter and easier to eat.

The hamburger consisted a 150g beef patty, topped up with lettuce, crispy bacon, tomatoes, cheese , grilled onion and pickles.  The burger was humongous, even cutting it in half, I couldn’t finish it.  The lady who served us told us there are tissue paper on the side and we should put the burger in it so the juice wouldn’t drip all over the place.  Thanks to her, we managed to eat the burger without a handful of juicy juice!

We left the restaurant in a rush as time slipped without knowing and we had to catch the airport bus.  We scoffed down the last of the patties, realizing we were extremely full.  It was a satisfying lunch indeed, although slightly on the pricier side for burgers, it’s definitely good burgers.  However, if you are here to experience Wagyu or Ishigaki beef for the first time, this isn’t the place since the Wagyu taste isn’t as strong as other places.
