As we didn’t know Japanese, we could only rely on the photos shown on the menu.  We ended up ordering the ‘Most popular’ ramen  (which can be read in Chinese too) from the menu.  It wa sthe miso soup base and we chose the one with the most char siew so we can share it out.
It didn’t disappoint, the soup was rich and flavoursome, as we chose the one with maximum char siew, it came with no egg.  The char siew was thinner than the one came with the other ramen and less fatty.  The noodles was exactly how I like it, al dente!

We also ordered the second most favourite on the menu, and to my surprise it was the pork bone broth ramen! I couldn’t be happier, however this is supposed to be a spicy ramen, as in the centre of the ramen, there was a spoonful of spicy sauce.  I quickly learnt that and spooned it away.
The soup was milky white, thick and rich, I love it! The ramen was thick and al dente, came with lots of beansprouts which I love eating with my soup.  The egg was not cut in half but they give you as a whole and to my disappointment, it wasn’t runny inside the egg anymore.  It only came with one piece of char siew, and it was the best piece.  It has 30% fat in it making the char siew melts in you mouth, the char siew was slightly thicker than the other bowl.

Verdict

Char siew ramen with miso soup – 8/10
Ramen with egg and pork bone broth – 10/10

麺や 虎我 Taiga wasn’t on my original plan/itinerary as I did notcome across it while researching a week beforehand.  It is shocking how I completely missed this restaurant out on Tabelog, it doesn’t have a high rating but the ramen was so good.  It actually taste much better than ones I have had in Osaka and Tokyo.  The soup was rich and creamy, the ramen was thick noodles and al dente.  Even the char siew was good, this place deserves more attention.  The ramen restaurant is huge, so don’t worry if you think you will need to queue up.  You won’t miss this place if you are driving as it is right next to a main road, and there is plenty of parking.  I totally recommend this place if you don’t want to splash out.

Would I go back again? Yes
